This weekend saw the 1st October...Autumn is here, and the next few months are as Rich says 'my time' - if you've been reading my blog posts so far, you'll know that from late September through to late December are my favourite months of the year...the only downside being that the garden is starting to look a little sad.
The grass has been too wet to cut - and it's starting to look a little unkempt, the leaves are starting to fall from the trees (this house is fully surrounded by trees and lots of them, so I envisage tidying these being a thankless task!), a few things have died off - and in fairness our garden is a lovely mature garden but some of the long standing plants have seen better days.
As you may know from previous blogs our bedroom looks in to the garden, which means as I sit in bed enjoying my coffee, I also spend a fair amount of time thinking about what needs doing out there. There's been a particular area of the garden that in my mind has needed cutting back for some time. It's been dying back and looking worse for wear for a few weeks and I had plans to neatly prune everything back at the base to allow it all to grow back in the Spring...
Unfortunately, I was feeling massively productive this weekend, ploughing through a 'to do' list as well as helping Rich with insulating the living room floor...
With productivity can come devastation....
I decided to get the petrol strimmer going in order to neaten up a few bits of the garden, mostly to get ride of nettles etc....problem is, that bit of the garden that needed neatly pruning was just too tempting, and the outcome was - well, yes, you guessed it, I ended up strimming it all back!! I am yet to determine if it looks better or worse, and whether it was the right thing to do - I guess only time will tell - lets see if it grows back next Spring!
And so, the title of this blog....'click bait' I hear you cry...actually no - I got injured in such a way while strimming it bought tears to my eyes! We're big on safety over here at 'Team Simkiss', I had gloves, boots, safety glasses and ear defenders on (over kill maybe....!?) but my nose....my nose wasn't protected....and the stinging nettle fought back!
I was loving life, strimming back all of the nettles around the beloved apple tree, when out of nowhere some stinging nettle flew up and hit my nose.....and my god did it sting....!
Let this be a lesson to you all.....!!
In all seriousness that could have been my eyes....so probably just as well for the safety glasses!
Anyway, that's all for now folks.
